Craft Fair Story

  • My name is Alisa (learn more about our family HERE), and I started The Hungry Housewives in 2004 when a few moms were looking for friendship… and really loved to eat. We’d “do lunch,” swap bulk freezer meals, and somewhere along the way, I started sharing what we were cooking online.

A few years later, that same group of PTA moms decided to give back outside of the schools. We organized events like Crop Out Cancer, raising money for cancer research through all-day scrapbooking fundraisers. From there, it grew into fashion shows, bunco nights, charity fun runs, and even leading our town’s Relay for Life.

As our kids got older, a few of us started selling at local markets, including the Funky Junk Show with the Junk Salvation Sisters. We up-cycled furniture, curated vintage decor, and made a little “fun money” while continuing to support charities and community events.

In 2012, we launched an Annual Craft & Vendor Show. Over time, life got busier and our group got smaller, until it eventually became a family-run event. We’ve hosted it every year since, except during COVID, and it’s still one of the most meaningful parts of what I do. Some of the original “housewives” still stop by to shop, or even set up booths of their own.

Each year, the event highlights a different charity, with proceeds from our raffle supporting the cause. What started as a few women gathering over food has grown into something much bigger, but at its core, it’s always been about connection, creativity, and showing up for the community.

“You are a master!”

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the great event. I had a really good time and enjoyed the vendors around me. I was so honored when customers arrived looking for me. So exciting! Everything was so well-organized from start to finish, and you were so present. As always, it was a great way to kick off with the holiday shoppers, and they were happy too. I hope I get to participate more.
