The Hungry Housewives Story

  • My name is Alisa, and I started The Hungry Housewives in 2004. A few moms were looking for ways to feed our families quickly, while getting to spend time together. We would meet up once a month to “do lunch,” and swap bulk freezer meals. When Facebook started, I decided to share what we were cooking online…. which was a LOT of casseroles at the time!

A few years later, that same group of PTA moms decided to give back to our community OUTSIDE of the schools. We organized events like Crop Out Cancer (to raise money for cancer research through all-day scrapbooking fundraisers), fashion shows, bunco nights, charity fun runs, and even leading our town’s Relay for Life.

As our kids got older, some of us grew apart, while others started selling at local markets up-cycled furniture, and curated vintage decor. In 2012 I launched our Annual Craft & Vendor Show (which you can learn about HERE) which had it’s own Facebook Page. As time went on, it was easier just running ONE Facebook Community so I combined the pages along with a business page I had, which is why, when you go on there now, so many of our fun past adventures sadly don’t exist online!

Luckily, we now have this space to share!

“You are a master!”

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the great event. I had a really good time and enjoyed the vendors around me. I was so honored when customers arrived looking for me. So exciting! Everything was so well-organized from start to finish, and you were so present. As always, it was a great way to kick off with the holiday shoppers, and they were happy too. I hope I get to participate more.
