“The mountain between us is the one mountain I cannot climb.” Charles Martin, The Mountain Between Us
Thriller/Mystery

Thriller “snowed in” type of book that I was craving since we didn’t have any snow. Some things I figured near the end, but this was still a good story.
It’s about a true-crime writer staying in a small town to write a book, and she finds a small child outside.

Australian writer, so was good on audio to hear the voices. Point of view from gal who is an influencer living in a house with a bad reputation, and her feeling like she’s losing it. Relatable about having to “post” when not wanting to, so trying to be chipper haha. Didn’t end how I thought it would- clever.

Fiction, Mystery
Starts off with a woman finding her cop husband had committed suicide. Right off I couldn’t stand any of his friends/co-workers and I felt like it was going to be a one-of-the-cops-did-it type of thing, so quit.

Forgot I had read this before, but nothing else was available on my list. Didn’t remember the end (was good!), or the events until I was reading it. I liked the main character- boyfriend, not so much. It’s about a writer who is engaged to a rich guy, with a super rich family who realllly likes games. Biggest game is a psychological one that the writer has to figure out.

Wasn’t my normal subject to read (about mountain climbers). Was pretty good and though I had an idea of how it would end, what they went through was interesting. A woman gets a big break to interview a famous climber, but she has to complete the hike before getting it, which is difficult because hikers keep dying.

Another type of “girl gets engaged to a rich guy whose family is crazy” type of story, but still liked it! In this one, when she comes to their family retreat, she finds a picture of herself when she was young, so has to figure out why.

Started it, not realizing it’s a series about a K9 dog. Not sure I’ll revisit this one.

I liked this book enough when I was reading it, but there were some farfetched ideas that didn’t seem very realistic. A woman grows up always feeling like she’s being watched, and later she experiences a trauma. To ground herself, they suggest she goes to a class reunion, with people she wasn’t really friends with. It’s in a secluded area, where, of course, they get snowed in. When she arrives, it looks like the others arrived before her, but aren’t around, and there are clues to something deeper going on.

REALLY liked this one! Interesting story line. Lots of twists I wouldn’t have guessed, with a good ending RECOMMEND! It starts with a writer winning a spot to a famed author’s home for a writing retreat. Things, of course, are not what they seem.

Murder mystery in 1957 rural Ireland involving the church. Quit reading early since it was really slow paced. Might revisit when I can focus more clearly, but this is something I think I’d prefer as a BBC movie.
Romance

Thought it was a thriller/mystery snow type but it ended up being a romance hahaha A shorter book, it did have a little bit of an obvious story line of “stuck in the mountains so we fall in love” type of thing. Good story though of somebody growing up sheltered and not understanding relationships. Enjoyed it, so was glad I read it. Somehow was my first Lesbian Romance?

SORRY JOHN GREEN!!! I started this not originally knowing it was multiple stories, PLUS a romance during the holidays which would be better fitting for a December month, so I’ll revisit! If not the book, then the movie version.
