“We live on land. Sharks live in water. So if you’re swimming in the water and a shark bites you, that’s called trespassing.” Gilbert Arenas
My fear of water stems from my brother sharing tales to torture me.

Horror, Thriller, Breakdown, Creature Feature, Relationships
2019 movie that gave me a little crush on the actor Jeremy Gardner leading me to watch Off Season, and The Battery (on my zombie page!).
After a long romance with his girlfriend, the character Hank wakes up alone, with a parting note. With her gone, his behavior becomes erratic as he slips into paranoia and loneliness. Is it just him?
TRIVIA– Jeremy sings a song in this movie (almost titled Something Else) that he also sang in The Battery.
Also, there’s a scene featuring a 14-minute, seemingly static shot, actually contains an almost imperceptible slow zoom.

Light Horror, Creature Feature, Relationships
2014 release and one I’ve seen at least three times so far! It’s about a cop (played by Kevin Durand from Abigail) who is struggling with past trauma, so he’s not on his A game when strange things start happening in town. I REALLY like his deputy played by Lukas Haas (Witness). Great watch! SO wish there had been a part two.
TRIVIA – Shot in 20 days, the film was based on “The Devil’s Footprints” phenomenon that occurred in 19th century England. Mysterious hoof-like footprints appeared in the snow February 1855 in Devon, totaling an estimated 40 to 100 miles (60 to 160 km). The prints appeared to pass through walls and over rooftops, marking a route in a perfect straight line.

Horror, Creature Feature, Maine
2018 movie about an island that is suddenly cut off when the ferry quits coming, and no other boats seem to be able to leave. When dead bodies start to show up on the island, they have to figure out what is killing them.
This was pretty good for a lower budget movie! Liked the cast and the reason around the movie title.
TRIVIA – All in the family! This was written by bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, and it was directed by her son Josh. Shot in 18 days, they shot in local homes, borrowed local buoys, and had nearly 200 community members watch the final day of shooting.

Horror, Dystopian, End-of-the-World, Woman Centered, Irish
2024. More Sci-Fi than Horror personally. The one scene with the diseased was brief. It’s about a woman who wakes up with no memory, but is pregnant. As she tries to remember, she realizes there is danger off their little island. This is pretty slow… found myself fast forwarding some scenes. REALLY liked the main character, but felt like they didn’t do a good job making her feel comfortable/safe when she woke up to make things work.

Horror, Comet, Camp Slasher
2020 movie about kids at a rehabilitation camp for tech dependency. Years before, a comet had fallen and altered two boys. When something happens to their mother, they are now left to their own devices, and become dangerous to the public. Too bad the kids’ camp is so close…
I liked the sense of humor of the group, but it was a basic cheesy teen slasher trope.
